It’s that time of year when theft and burglaries tend to increase under the cover of darkness. Here’s a few tips to keep your property secure and safe over the winter months.
1. A monitored alarm is the best deterrent. Make sure the alarm box is visible.
2. Security cameras are a criminals nightmare. Keep security cameras visible so they know they’re being watched.
3. Lighting, in particular motion sensor lights will deter people snooping. A great solution is smart lighting with a PIR sensor. You can light up your living room as someone approaches.
4. Padlocks on side gates and sheds. Don’t buy cheap, make sure you get something substantial. Make sure you replace screws with bolts on shed doors to stop them simply being unscrewed.
5. Tell your next door neighbour if you’re not around and ask them to keep an eye out. And never advertise on social media if you’re away from home.
