Residents Association Update

Dear Residents,

The Residents Association Committee has been meeting and communicating regularly to ensure we manage topics that affect all residents.

Covid-19 restrictions have meant that we are unable to host events as we normally would, but we continue to monitor the situation and will of course have a neighbourly gathering when appropriate.

Anti-social behaviour in DodderBrook

Recent weeks has seen antisocial behaviour throughout the estate spike. With the main issues being arson of the house beside DodderBrook on Oldcourt Rd and continued fireworks being used to damage bins.

The committee has maintained contact with our Community Garda, we urge you to report any activities to him, if there is an immediate issue or danger do not hesitate to call 999.

We have also written to the Superintendent of Tallaght Garda station on behalf of the residents to express our concerns and to request additional patrols in the area. We have also requested that An Garda Síochana contact Capami about their site and ensure that it is secured appropriately.

Planning

The Residents Committee continues to monitor planning in the area. The most notable planning to be granted near DodderBrook are two sites adjacent to the estate. Both sites are owned, and applications have been submitted by Capami. We are currently unsure of whether Capami will begin work on these sites once they have completed the current phase of DodderBrook.

A recent application was submitted for the playground in Phase 2 of DodderBrook. This application was lacking any meaningful play equipment. The committee has contacted the local planning authority and they have now confirmed that the plan has been amended and will include some substantial play equipment that will suit all ages.

Capami have also extended their planning application for Phase 1 to complete builds on a number of small sites within the phase. This will mean that the council will not be taking in charge of phase 1 for some time.

Completion of Phase 2

Phase 2 of DodderBrook is nearing completion. Please note, the last items to be completed will be the roads, landscaping, and playground. We will continue to communicate with Capami to make sure residents are aware of plans for these completions.

Upcoming Activities

Halloween is just around the corner, the committee will keep you updated in the coming weeks on how to trick or treat safely, solutions for contactless trick or treating and more!

Although we cannot host social events in the estate we can still get out and keep things looking great. The residents committee will host a clean up day on the 17th Oct beginning at 11am for a couple of hours. We will be purchasing new planting for the estate and will have new planters to fill. Please get involved in any way you can. Sweeping the street to make sure the drains stay clear for winter or picking up any litter you might see will help keep DodderBrook looking brilliant. We will have more details in a dedicated post.

DodderBrook Residents Association is a voluntary organisation and we work hard to maintain the insurance which covers social events, communicate with Capami, meet with residents, host events, and run the website and social media accounts. None of this is possible without residents joining, please remember to pay your annual subscription to help maintain these services by paying here.

Let’s be a strong community, together!

Kind regards,

DodderBrook Residents Association
