Secure your home

As we begin to enter longer nights there’s more risk of theft and burglaries.

Gardaí do drive through DodderBrook from time to time but there is always other ways to deter criminals.

Below are some ideas to help you keep your house safe –

Monitored alarms are an excellent deterrent and wireless alarms can often be extended to your shed. Alternatively you can install battery powered alarms in your shed. Check out this example.

Make sure you keep your windows and doors locked.

Side gates and sheds should have sufficient locks, particularly if you have valuables in your shed, it’s best to have more than one lock and always use anti theft screws and bolts to secure these locks. Check out this example.

Buy anchor points for bikes and other expensive equipment which you can use to lock and secure them. Check out this example.

Security lights are a great deterrent, simple battery powered lights can work great. You can even retrofit your back light with a smart bulb and PIR sensor to adapt it as a security light.

Video camera doorbells are another great way to see what’s going on at your front door. One of the most popular brands is Ring, you can find them here.

Security cameras come in many forms, one of the easiest to install are Blink cameras, that require no wires and can be installed anywhere. Find Blink here.

Remember to keep watch on your neighbours house and let them know of any unusual activity. And remember to report anything you see to the RA WhatsApp group, Facebook or through this website.

The residents association will continue to engage with community Gardaí and local authorities to help deter any crime in DodderBrook.

Kind regards
