Newsletter

Dear Residents,

We hope you and your families are all keeping safe and well during the current lockdown period.

This is the first of hopefully many regular newsletters which will provide you with updates of what is happening in the estate and the local area.

A lot of things have been happening over the last few months, with much more planned (restrictions permitting) over the rest of the year.

Spring Clean 2020

Maybe slightly belated all things considered… but over the past few weeks residents have been out tidying up the common areas around the estate, including cleaning up the ‘brook’, removal of rubbish and edging grass around the estate. We have also started to plant flowers to add some colour underneath the street name signs.

On the 6th of June we ask that all residents of DodderBrook come together to help finish the work to tidy the estate in any way they can, including sweeping and weeding footpaths and roads and edging along the footpaths.

We also have several birdhouses and bee hotels to be hung throughout the estate, as well as some further planting under signs, seeding designated wildflower areas and various other jobs for community areas.

Gloves, bags and high-vis vests will be available to residents and we’ll have some spare tools, but please feel free to bring any gardening equipment you have to assist.

We are planning to gather at the bridge from 10am and members of the committee will be on hand to help coordinate, hand out equipment and answer any queries from residents.

MOST IMPORTANTLY PLEASE REMEMBER TO RESPECT THE 2 METRE SOCIAL DISTANCING AT ALL TIMES!

South Dublin County Council currently operate a “barter system” whereby they offer assistance to groups who undertake maintenance and environmental development projects. By cleaning the estate and look after the green spaces, and improving the environment throughout, they will in return collect green waste and supply planting, trees and shrubs, as well as signage and other supplies. This is a great opportunity for DodderBrook to be at the forefront of this scheme and benefit from the assistance of SDCC in the future.

Capami

We have been engaging with Capami to resolve ongoing landscape and maintenance issues around the estate and will continue to liaise with them further on items such as:

  • Replacement of broken and dead trees
  • Dredging of the river
  • Regular and thorough street sweeping
  • Completion of all landscaping as per the planning grant

Membership

Without you, the residents association cannot operate. We have several projects and events planned for 2020 and have applied for grants to support these activities, but the main funding of our association comes from member subscriptions. Please help us to get more done around the estate and develop our wonderful community by subscribing through our website.

We are always eager to hear suggestions and ideas from all our residents, so please feel free to contact us via the website, in person or by email at dodderbrook@gmail.com

Kind regards
DodderBrook Residents Association
